Micronesian Productions: About Us
|
|
Micronesian Productions was founded
in 1981 by my wife and me with the publication of the first edition of The Americanization.
Liberation was published for the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Guam, and Sacrifice
naturally followed.
Carmen and I moved to Tinian, her home island, in 1987 and have remained here ever since,
except for a one year move to Saipan for the initial research on the History of the Northern
Marianas which I wrote and produced on contract to the CNMI Public School System.

|
|
We are now involved in a new project, creating the Tinian at the Turning Point Files.
Once the research is complete, they will provide the primary sources for a publication by the
same title. Funding for this research has been provided by the CNMI Council for the Humanities,
which is supported in part by the National Endowment for the arts.
|
The Tinian at the Turning Point Files is also supported by the Northern Marianas College. All
documents collected, including maps and photographs, will be deposited with the Northern
Marianas Archives, which are located at the Northern Marianas College, Saipan Campus.

We are very grateful to both the Humanities Council and the Northern Marianas College for their
support. We have already completed our first research trip, gathering documents, maps and
photographs of Tinian during World War II from the Seabee Archives at Port Hueneme. We also
collected at the Naval Operational Archives at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. and
the National Archives Annex in College Park, Maryland for the same purpose. We plan to publish
a preliminary document on September 2 of this year that will be available to the public through
this web site. Persons with information, documents or other material they wish to donate to the
Tinian at the Turning Point Files may do so by contacting me at farrells@marianashistory.com.
